Ruff Ryders CEO Waah Dean recently gave some new details on the much anticipated Ruff Ryders Reunion album, Ruff Ryders Evolution: Generation I.
According to Dean, the album is said to include both past and present Ruff Ryders such as Eve, The LOX, Swizz Beats, DMX, Eve, and Drag-On.
“The compilation is pretty much finished and we’re looking to knock it out and have it up and running at the end of 2nd, beginning of 3rd quarter,” Dean said. “We got a couple of nice joints. It’s gonna be a mixture of the old and new… we got this joint called ‘Family.’ We got a remix on it too and we want to launch the compilation with that…we’re gonna feature our established artists, new artists and we’re gonna remix it and just really unify the family thing, bring back the foundation. We have collaborations songs that we did with The Lox and Cassidy and we get a song from each artist and let them express themselves. (Hip Hop Wired)
If all goes well with the album a major label release may be the next step in the Ruff Ryders reunion.
“It’s gonna be a decent album, we’re gonna do that one independent and we may even take it upstairs (to major label) to do that on a whole other level. This album is really going to be about coming together,” Dean said. (Hip Hop Wired)
The Ruff Ryders label rose to fame in the late 1990’s with DMX as the leader of their roster. The group hasn’t collaborated on a reunion album since 2005’s The Redemption, Vol. 4.
