Bill O’Reilly definitely made some new enemies Wednesday after an audio recording was released of the political commentator comparing the disasters in Haiti to Chicago.
During an appearance in Westbury, New York, O’Reilly made comments regarding Obama’s belief in the government’s ability to solve the problems in Haiti stating, “The government’s going to solve the problems, and I’m going, I don’t know, how’s that possible? If you’ve ever been to the South Side of Chicago, I mean, it’s a disaster, all right? It’s like Haiti….”
Chicago native, Lupe Fiasco, heard the comment made by O’Reilly, and said he could see why he made the comparison.
“There’s a certain level of concurrence,” Lupe told MTV. “Not now. There’s no toppled buildings, unless you want to count the projects. But pre-earthquake Haiti … When I went to Africa, when I was in Tanzania, it was weird because there was this extreme poverty and extreme corruption and it looked so much like the West Side of Chicago.”
Lupe went on to say that he in no way fully supports O’Reilly, but he could understand the comparison of America’s poverty-stricken neighborhoods to Third World countries.
Earlier this month, Lupe climbed Mount Kilimanjaro along with celebrities Kenna, Santigold, Jessica Biel, and Emile Hersch to raise awareness about clean drinking water in Africa.
